Mrs. Janet Sharp Allen , age 95 of LaFollette passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022.  She was a lifelong Member of First Presbyterian Church of LaFollette.  She served the church in various capacities, including Elder.  Together with her Husband, Rev. Reuben Allen, Jr., they served the Presbyterian Church for many years in several locations, including Tallahassee, FL, Bainbridge, GA, and Chattanooga, TN.  Mrs. Allen was a 1949 University of Tennessee Graduate, received her Master’s Degree from Appalachian State University, and taught Clothing and Textiles and Home Economics in several public schools and Universities, including Paris, TN, Jacksboro High School, Boone, NC, and Carson-Newman College.  She was a Bible Scholar and enjoyed reading, and was a Member of the LaFollette Book Club.  Her other talents included gardening and cooking, especially making sweets with her Grandchildren and extended family.  Mrs. Allen was an accomplished seamstress and created many dresses and articles of clothing for many generational members of her family, including weddings of family members. In addition to her Husband, she is preceded in death by Step-Daughters, Lois Sherwin and Susan Patton, Parents, Robert Lee Sharp, Sr. and Jess Dempster Sharp, Brothers, Bill Sharp and Wife, Marianne, Dick Sharp, Sr. and wife Betty Anne, and Bob Sharp and Wife, Betsy, and Great-Niece, Janie B. Sharp.

Survivors: Step-Daughters, Elizabeth McGinniss and Husband, Paul, Virginia Hitchman-Brisben and Husband, Wayne, Kathleen Presley and Husband, Harold; Grandchildren, Nicholas Presley and Wife, Corrie, Micah Presley and Wife, Victoria, Bethany Presley-Bridges and Husband, Josh, Miriam Presley-Clowers and Husband, Trevor, Angela Pratesi and Husband, Jim Bennett, William Pratesi and Wife, Laura, Allen McGinniss and Wife, Amanda, Carol McGinniss-Reynolds and Husband, Will, and David Patton; Great-Grandchildren, Jack, Alice and Audrey Thibodeaux, Levi, Charlotte, Naomi, and Elliana Presley, Isaac, Philip, and Lydia Grace Bridges, Alyssa, Audrey, and Andrew McGinniss, Daniel Reynolds, James Pratesi, and Amelia Pratesi; Nieces, and Nephews, Bess Stout and Husband, David, Richard Sharp, Bailey Sharp and Wife, Jane, Elizabeth Henderson and Husband, Woody, Marianne Sharp, and Susan Sharp-Campbell; Great-Nieces and Great-Nephew, Janet Seiber and Husband, Johnny Mack, Jessica Broyles and Husband, James, Robert Sharp, Shelby Sharp, Mary Bailey Oakes and Husband, Stuart, Kathleen Sharp, Margaret Sharp, Sarah Henderson, and Leigh Henderson; Special Great-great-Nephews, Tanner and Cooper Seiber, Logan and Luke Broyles.  The family wishes to express a special thank you to Mrs. Allen’s Caregivers, Karen Shears, Lisa Burton, Brenda Reynolds, Jayna Hembree, and Regina Schmidlin, and former Caregivers, Linda Pierce, Becky Ford, Jennifer Muse, and Kendra Griffin, and the Nurses and Staff of Amedisys Home Health and Hospice.

Funeral Services Sunday, June 26, 2022, 2:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church of LaFollette (110 West Ash St., LaFollette, TN 37766).  Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Sunday before funeral services.  The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to: First Presbyterian Church of LaFollette, P.O. Box 458, LaFollette, TN 37766.  Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Janet Sharp Allen.
