Mrs. Mary Wanda (Shepherd) Cain, age 82 of Jacksboro passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026. She was born in Bluff City, TN and attended Holston Baptist Church in Bristol, TN and Bristol Community College. For the past 51 years, Wanda has been a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Jacksboro where she has served on the finance committee, a nursery worker, senior adult treasurer, and any other tasks that needed to be done. Wanda served 46 years in the banking industry, 12 of those with First National Bank of Bristol, and upon moving to the area after marriage, spent the next 34 years with Peoples Bank of the South. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, flower gardening, loved fishing, her Lady Vols Basketball team, and dearly loved the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her father, Roy R. Shepherd, mother, Zona B. (Smalling) Shepherd, and sister, Betty Boyd and husband, Arlin.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John F. Cain; sisters, Nancy K. Anderson and husband, Charles of Bristol, TN and Helen L. Perry, and husband E.D. of Bristol, TN; nieces and nephews, Ted Boyd and wife, Kim, Lisa Erwin and husband, Nolan, Tim Anderson and wife, Angie, Kathy Shadden and husband, Ron, Craig Perry and wife, Renee, and D’Ann Horne and husband, David; great-nieces and great-nephews, Katie, Cayce, Leslie, Amy, Molly, Griffin, Finn, and Mason; and friends who are more like family, Gary, Penny, and Jody Hatmaker.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Karen Gibson, Megan Chapman, Christy Castleberry, and the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their tremendous care to Wanda.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 28, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Jacksboro. A Celebration of Wanda’s Life will be held at 1:00 PM with Rev. Patrick Arbo and Rev. Bill Arbo officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksboro Cemetery with Rev. Larry Reeves officiating.
