Irene Cornett

Irene Cornett , age 81 of Gordon, KY, departed this life on Monday, February 15, 2016 at the Pikeville Medical Center. She was born November 22, 1934 in Gilley to the late Henry and Mary Jane Cornett Lewis. Irene spent her life as a homemaker and was a member of the Coyles Branch Primitive Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Chuckie (Jewel) Cornett of Gordon, KY and Larry Cornett of LaFollette, TN; brothers, Ray Lewis and Bill (Grace) Lewis; sisters, Ima Jean Halcomb, Delois Birchfield, and Wanda (Darrell) Fox; grandchildren, Wendy Pierce, Thomas Cornett, Dustin Cornett, Ginger Coots, and Michael Cornett; great grandchildren, Destiny Cornett, Catelyn Phillips, Olivia Pierce, Hunter Cornett, Jacob Coots, and one great grandchildren to be; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home, 506 Holly Street, Benham, KY on Thursday, February 18, 2016, between 6:00 – 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016, at 2:00 PM with Reverend Dennis Williams and Reverend Mark Lewis officiating. Interment will be in the Lewis Cemetery in Gilley, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
