Gerri Lewellen

d. April 25, 2020

On Saturday, April 25, 2020, Gerri Marie Lewellen of Speedwell,a loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 68.  Gerri was an “Unofficial” Mother to many as she had a huge heart for people whether they were family, friends or strangers.  Gerri served the Healthcare Industry as a nurse for over 40-years before retiring to Norris Lake with her Husband, Gary.  She found her joy and home at Fincastle United Methodist Church, where she assisted with several community programs including preparing meals for the homeless and volunteering for Galilee Bible Camp.  When she wasn’t serving the church, some of her favorite past-times were: floating on the lake, tending to her garden, helping neighbors renovate their homes, and sharing videos of her two-year old Granddaughter, Evelyn, to anyone who had a minute…or five.  She took such pride in caring for friends and family.  Some may believe she lost her battle with breast cancer, but she knows this was just the beginning to her eternal life.

She is survived by: her loving Husband, Joseph Gary Lewellen; Son, Ryan Christopher Lewellen and Wife, Jessica Ann; Granddaughter, Evelyn Rose Lewellen; Brothers, Donald Cains, and John Cains and Wife Kay, and Sister, Kathy Haines and Husband, Joe.  Several Nieces, Nephews, relatives, and many beloved friends.

Preceded in death by Parents, Eugene and Mary Jane Alter Cains.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 12:00 P.M. at Fincastle United Methodist Church Parking Lot, 629 Old Middlesboro Highway, LaFollette, TN with Rev. Steve Evans officiating.  The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to: Fincastle United Methodist Church, 629 Old Middlesboro Hwy., LaFollette, TN 37766.  Online condolences for Mrs. Lewellen may be made at www.waltersfuneralhome.net.  Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Gerri Lewellen.
