Charles David Sewell

Mr. Charles David Sewell, age 82 of LaFollette, formerly of Atlanta, GA passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at his home.

David was born and raised in Atlanta, GA and was a 1960 Graduate of Roosevelt High School, where he excelled in Football, Baseball, and Basketball. Because of his athletic ability, he was recruited by several SEC Colleges as a Quarterback in Football and Pitcher in Baseball. David ultimately decided to attended Georgia Tech in his hometown where he earned an athletic scholarship to play football for the legendary Bobby Dodd. During his time at Georgia Tech, he played Quarterback from 1960-1964, and was also recruited by the Kansas City Chiefs of the NFL.

Upon completion from Georgia Tech, David began a 35-year career with Jostens, Inc. Throughout his time as a Sales Representative with Jostens, he earned several awards as the Salesperson of the year in Georgia, and also a member of the Chairmans Club, the company’s national sales achievement award.

David enjoyed golf and hunting, and was a member of the Juliette Hunting Club while living in Georgia. He also had a passion for woodworking, and excelled in that venture. He built many toys for his grandchildren, furniture for their home, or anything on his “honey-do-list” from his wife, Vicki and daughter, Rebecca.

David moved to Tennessee 8 years ago, and truly loved his time in LaFollette. His happy place was being with his 6 grandchildren whom he adored. The feeling was mutual, as they loved their Paw Paw, and he taught them so many things, and gave advice they will carry with them all their lives.

Davis was a member of LaFollette Methodist Church, and was a man of deep faith who trusted God in all things. He loved reading his Bible, devotionals, and several books written by Christian authors.

He is preceded in death by father, Charles Sewell, and mother, Dorothy (McMillan) Edelson.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Vicki (McNeeley) Sewell; daughters, Angela Sewell of Porterdale, GA, Kimberly Dolvin of Monroe, GA, and Rebecca Troutman and husband, Reid of LaFollette; son, Donn Claiborne of LaFollette; Grandchildren, Ingrid Dolvin of Atlanta, GA, Amelia Dolvin of Augusta, GA, Thomas Robards, Rusty Robards, Mac Robards, Georgia Robards, Mason Troutman, and Aiden Troutman, all of LaFollette; sister, Marilyn Clayton and husband, Bill of Bremen, GA; long-time friends, Charles Ward, Bill McClendon, Pete Wilson, and the members of the Juliette Hunting Club.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, 2:00 PM at LaFollette Methodist Church (808 East Central Ave., LaFollette, TN) with Rev.
