Carolyn Faye Overbay

Mrs. Carolyn Faye Overbay age 77 of LaFollette passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018.  She was a member of High Knob Missionary Baptist Church for 42 years, and a beloved choir leader for 25 years.  Psalm 100:2 – “Serve the Lord with gladness, come before his presence with singing.”  This verse describes the person of Carolyn Overbay and it was visible to all of her church family and friends.  Whether the need was for food to be prepared and delivered to anyone in need, or whether it was leading the choir in singing praises to the Lord, Carolyn was a willing vessel at any hour of the day.  Truly, Carolyn is a great example of a Woman of God because she “had love for one another.” (John 13:35)  Carolyn was preceded in death by her Parents, Chalk and Anna Mae Cordell.

Overbay, Mia Overbay, Jamie (Potter) Fox, Blake Potter, Samantha Strader, and Summer Strader; Sisters, Janice Starrett and Husband, A.J. of LaFollette, Shirley Turrill of Delaware, OH, and Pat Kirby and Husband, David of LaFollette; Sisters and Brothers-in-law,  Edna Bunch of Jacksboro, Billie Nance of Jacksboro, Ella Wells of LaFollette, Fred Overbay of Caryville, and Judy Bullock of Jacksboro; Nieces and Nephews, Aaron Turrill of Grove City, OH, Michelle Chauncey of Alexandria, VA, Melissa Young of Beavercreek, OH, Myron Starrett of Coalfield, TN, Cynthia Townsend of Ooltewah, TN; Special Cousin, Jimmy Heatherly and Wife, Deloris of LaFollette, TN; Very Special Friends, Ruby Norman, Shirley Gillum, Mildred Smiddy, Jane Miller, Susie Minton, and James and Judy Brown.

Funeral Services Tuesday 7 P.M. at High Knob Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Hembree officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Tuesday before funeral services.  Family and friends will meet Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. at Walters Funeral Home and proceed to Campbell Memorial Gardens for 10 A.M. graveside services and interment.  Pall Bearers: Jacob Walden, Nate Walden, Aaron Turrill, Myron Starrett, Brett Starrett, Jimmy Heatherly, and Zach Heatherly, Dennis Potter, and Rod Strader.
