Mr. Bobby Lynn White, a lifelong resident of the Davis Chapel Community of LaFollette, passed peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the age of 84.

He was a graduate of LaFollette High School and continued his education at Cumberland College, earning a degree in Education, followed by a Master’s Degree in History from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Mr. White had a lifelong passion for teaching, beginning his career at Davis Chapel School, where he taught 5th through 8th grades. Throughout his career, he made a lasting impact on countless students while teaching Driver’s Education and several other subjects, ultimately choosing to dedicate many years to 7th Grade Tennessee History until his retirement. His commitment to education also led him to serve as Assistant Principal of LaFollette Junior High and LaFollette Middle School, where he influenced both students and staff alike.

He was the owner and operator of White Monument Company, a third-generation business he ran for many years. He also had a deep love for working on his farm, finding great fulfillment among his cows or behind the wheel of his tractor. His commitment to serving his community extended beyond his professional career; having served as a Campbell County Commissioner for 16 years, from 1998 to 2014. Mr. White was a 50-year member of Campbell County Masonic Lodge #778, Free & Accepted Masons. He was also an avid Corvette collector and member of the East Tennessee Corvette Club. Mr. White also served faithfully for many years as Chairman of the Board and Board member of the Mountain Valley Economic Opportunity Authority.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Condus E. “Con” White and Naomi (Davis) White.

He is survived by his son, Barry White and wife, Tammy; daughter, Alison White; grandson, Dr. Brandon White, MD, and wife, Morgan; and first great-granddaughter due this spring. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Katherine Clear, who brought him great joy throughout the many years they shared together, with their dog, Mia. Mr. White had no siblings, but is also survived by his first cousin, who was more like a sister, Gail (Irwin) Roy, and husband George.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Walters Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev. Kenny Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Powell Valley Cemetery.

To honor Mr. White’s deep love for Campbell County, the family asks you to consider, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to organizations that serve and strengthen the local community. Suggestions for consideration: “Adopt-a-Classroom” in Campbell County; School Supply Drives; Campbell County EMS; Local Volunteer Fire Departments; Local Rescue Squad; Sheriff, Police, or First Responder Foundations; Mountain Valley Economic Opportunity Authority; Community Health of East Tennessee.

Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Bobby Lynn White.
